Romanoff helped recruit Tony Stark, the Iron Man, and Bruce Banner, the Hulk, to the team while they were tracking and trying to capture Loki, eventually saving Barton from his grasp. The Russian hero had a fundamental role to destroy the portal that was created by the Tesseract.
